A Feather So Black

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I received this as an ARC, and I can confidently say this is one of the best ones I’ve read so far.

This book was beautiful in a way that kind of sneaks up on you.

I didn’t just read this story, I felt like I was in it. I felt like I was Fia. I was sad with her, angry with her, in love with her. And more than anything, I was hurt for her, especially knowing how she was treated and raised by someone who claimed to love her.

That emotional connection is what made this book stand out for me. It wasn’t just the story, it was how deeply I felt everything she went through.

Now, story aside, I will say there were moments where I struggled a bit with the language. There were a lot of words that weren’t familiar to me, and I didn’t realize until later that there was a glossary at the end. That definitely would have helped earlier on.

There were also a few sections that felt a bit drawn out, and I had to push myself through them. But honestly, it didn’t take away from the overall experience.

This was still an excellent read, and I cannot wait for it to be published so I can get a physical copy.

Thank you, Lyra Selene, for such a beautiful story.
