Court of Claws

Briar Boleyn

Rating: 4 out of 5.

SPOILER ALERT

This was part of the ARC set I received, starting with Queen of Roses, so I went straight into this one already fully invested in the story.

Court of Claws picks up right where the first book leaves off, with Morgan barely holding on after being stabbed.

And then we get introduced to a new kingdom.

Built into a volcano.

Like… who does that?

I loved it. The setting alone pulled me in immediately, but what really kept me invested was finally starting to learn more about the fae. Not just one side, but both. Once again, realizing that nothing is as simple as it first seems.

I will say, the back and forth between Morgan and Draven started to drag a bit for me. I understood her anger, and it made sense, but it went on just a little too long and started to feel repetitive.

But once Morgan started uncovering the truth about who she is, everything shifted. The story became something I couldn’t predict anymore, and that’s when it really hooked me again.

I definitely did not see Draven tricking her into becoming the Empress. That completely caught me off guard and changed how I was looking at everything.

Now I need to know what happens next.
